Board of Directors
Meeker Memorial’s mission and vision are to provide high quality health care services responsive to the residents of the Meeker County area. And, to be known as an organization that provides state-of-the-art health care services accompanied by outstanding care. Hospital leadership is provided by the Meeker Memorial Hospital (MMH) Board of Directors comprised of five community at-large members, two County Commissioners and the Chief of the Hospital’s Medical Staff with the Chief Executive Officer serving as an Ex Officio. The Hospital Board of Directors is subject to the supervisory authority of the County Board.
Hospital Board membership is formed to draw on the expertise, background, experience and ability to contribute towards mission, purpose of the hospital, district residency and interest. Responsibilities include: strategic planning, budget expenditure plan, establishing the Hospital’s mission, vision, goals and objectives, approval of policies, ensure conformance with competitive bidding processes, appointment of medical staff, evaluation and structure of the organization, medical staff accountability for quality care and maintaining high standards of professional and ethical practice.

2nd District Meeker County Commissioner, appointed to the Meeker Memorial Hospital Board in 1997.
Dave was born and raised in rural Litchfield. He graduated from St. Cloud State University. He is the Chairman of the Meeker County Commissioners and represents the 2nd District including: Litchfield Township, City of Litchfield Wards 2 and 3, Darwin Township/City and Harvey Township. He brings over 30 years of business experience and leadership to the hospital board, working in labor negotiation for the county and hospital, strong proponent of expansion for local businesses, leader and supporter for area farmers and residents in the Meeker County area through economic, housing and transportation development projects. He serves for the Meeker County Economic Development Authority and Corporation Board, Meeker/McLeod/Sibley Community Health Services Board, Heartland Community Action Board, Meeker/Kandiyohi Humane Society Board, Early Childhood Coalition and Meeker County Extension Board. He believes that making first class health care available to Meeker County and area residents a top priority.

Retired Banker, Eden Valley area resident, appointed to the Meeker Memorial Hospital Board in 2005.
Mike attended the Willmar Community College. He was the Executive Vice President for the State Bank of Eden Valley for 26 years until recently retiring in 2010. He is a resident of Eden Valley. He has served as a member of the Eden Valley Lions Club, Eden Valley Chamber of Commerce, Knights of Columbus, American Legion and Parish Council for the past 30 years. With his financial expertise, he values his contributions on the hospital board to help expand and enhance services for area residents through the recent hospital expansion/renovation project.

Reverend, Evangelical Covenant Church in Dassel, appointed to the Meeker Memorial Hospital Board in 2000.
Rev. Carlson attained his Master of Divinity at North Park Theological Seminary and was Ordained to Word and Sacrament to the Evangelical Covenant Church of Dassel in 1979. He is also the Chaplain of the Dassel Fire Department and as an Advisory member of Ecumen of Litchfield’s long term care and hospice board. Rev. Carlson has valued the time he has served on the hospital board to help instrument change; increasing the number of services and new amenities offered at MMH and Clinic in Dassel, including the most recent hospital expansion/renovation.

Lawyer, Dolan & Besser, Litchfield, MN, appointed to the Meeker Memorial Hospital Board in 2002.
Following a tour of active duty in the U. S. Army, Steve completed his undergraduate degree at Bemidji State University and received his Juris Doctorate with Distinction from the University of North Dakota, School of Law. He is licensed in the State and Federal Courts of Minnesota and North Dakota, and brings more than two decades of legal experience to the Hospital Board. He has been an active community leader, chairing or serving on various statewide and local boards and organizations, including the Litchfield Area Community Foundation, Minnesota Citizens Commission for the Preservation of an Impartial Judiciary, Immanuel Lutheran Church – Litchfield, and Litchfield Watercade, Inc.
Steve firmly believes that a community’s social and economic health is directly related to the physical health of its citizens and their ability to access quality health care locally.

Owner, Greg Brock Consulting, appointed to the Meeker Memorial Hospital Board in 2005.
Greg graduated from St. Olaf College with bachelors of arts degree in Economics, and concentration in Accounting/Finance. He is an Independent Consultant in healthcare finance, reimbursement and regulatory compliance. He brings over 25 years of experience in healthcare through management consulting, revenue analysis, strategic planning, cost report review/preparation and was previously an auditor for the Minnesota Medicare fiscal intermediary. His contributions have been valuable with assistance on the Finance and Executive Committees helping to focus general facility planning and financing of the expansion/renovation project and physician relations/integration.

Local Businessman, appointed to the Meeker Memorial Hospital Board in 2003.
Dale received his undergraduate degree from University of North Dakota and his Master of Arts Degree in Education and Reading from Northern State University. He served in the U.S. Navy for four years. In his years of service to the community he has been an active Litchfield City Council member, Litchfield School Board member and was a Meeker County Commissioner for 16 years. He has been a local businessman for 34 years. Since he grew up on a small rural South Dakota farm and been in the Litchfield community, he has seen the importance of a hospital in a rural community. This has led him to his perspective that it is important to maintain a hospital in the community and he values the time he has served as a board member of the hospital to ensure MMH is a valuable asset to Meeker County and area residents. “We all want progress if we can have it without change, and if we fight progress we lose.”

4th District Meeker County Commissioner, appointed to the Meeker Memorial Hospital Board in Jan., 2011.
Wally is a graduate of St. Cloud State University. He brings experience to the hospital board as a local farmer and in business management for over 33 years. He serves as the 4th District Meeker County Commissioner representing: Forest City Township, Forest Prairie Township, City of Watkins, Manannah Township, City of Eden Valley, Kingston Township & City. He has also served as a substitute teacher for area school districts in Kimball and Dassel/Cokato. For over 20 years, he has been a member of the Kingston Lions Club, served on the Meeker County Fairboard including managing the Meeker County Demolition Derby and has been a leader both in the community and in church.

MMH Chief of Medical Staff, appointed to the Meeker Memorial Hospital Board in 2009.
Dr. Peterson received his medical degree from the University of Minnesota Medical School. He did his Family Practice Center residency in Sioux Falls, S.D. and General Surgery residency at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, Iowa. Through his practice at the Affiliated Community Medical Centers in Litchfield and as a General Surgeon at the hospital, he provides a full range of general surgery services including abdominal, laparoscopic, cancer (such as breast cancer), treatment of venous disease and trauma surgeries. Dr. Peterson has been a strong advocate for the medical community as MMH Chief of Medical Staff, he is helping to enhance quality care and services at Meeker Memorial. His dedication and support to the patient, hospital and the community have made a tremendous impact on patient care for area residents.

CEO, Meeker Memorial Hospital, appointed as Ex Officio to the Meeker Memorial Hospital Board in Sept., 2009.
Kyle holds a Bachelors of Arts from Concordia College in Hospital Administration and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of St. Thomas. He has over 24 years of experience leading hospitals and clinics, both as independent organizations or connected through health systems including the Mayo Health System and Aurora Health System in Sheboygen,WI. He serves in the community and is a supporter through Kiwanis, Litchfield Golf Club and the Litchfield Chamber of Commerce. His hospital and clinic experience is helping Meeker Memorial to build a stronger health care setting to provide a quality patient experience.
